The 2015 Dhroner Hofberg Riesling Trocken comes from the south-facing part and from 60 to 65-year-old vines that were picked in the last week of October at 96° Oechsle. It was entirely fermented and aged in a single, traditional fuder barrel. This Riesling is intense in its citrus color and its concentrated, fascinating slate/quartzite and herbal aromas. This is a full-bodied, rich, finessed and elegant Hofberg with an intense and concentrated fruit, as well as a very long, vital and complex finish. It has aromatic fruit aromas in the aftertaste that remind me a bit of lychees, roses and Gewurztraminer. This is a very promising and age-worthy Riesling that should be kept for another 3-8 years.
